Freedom is Closer Than You Think
At Seal Beach Eyes, we love to spice up our favorite outfits with the right pair of eyeglasses! But, occasionally, we stop to wonder about a life not-so reliant on the lens. If you have ever considered laser eye surgery, book a consultation with our team today!
Laser eye procedures are not for every prescription, but we’ll help determine if you’re a candidate during the consultation and answer any questions about surgery and co-management.
Informative Consultations
Seal Beach Eyes provides laser eye surgery consultations to determine if a laser procedure can help improve your vision. Procedures are designed to correct refractive errors, like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Not every patient will achieve 20/20 vision through laser eye surgery. Some patients still need to wear glasses or contact lenses, but about 90% of patients report 20/20 or 20/40 vision after the procedure.
Your candidacy for laser eye surgery can be affected by certain eye conditions like:
- Frequent dry eyes
- Eye diseases
- Eye infections
- Diabetes
During the consultation, we will examine your eyes and determine if any factors may affect your recovery from surgery. Once we have determined your candidacy, our optometrists will refer you to an experienced ophthalmologist.
Co-Management of Your Recovery
Following surgery, our team works closely with your surgeon to ensure a successful recovery. You will be scheduled a series of follow-up appointments at Seal Beach Eyes to help facilitate the healing process.
You can expect some side effects post-surgery, including:
- Discomfort
- Glare or halos around bright lights
- Dry eyes
- Light sensitivity
- Blurry vision
It’s important to advise our team if any of these side effects begin to escalate. Call us immediately with any concerns.
LASIK Eye Surgery
LASIK is a common eye procedure used to help correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
Before the surgery, the ophthalmologist prepares your eyes with numbing drops to make you feel more comfortable. The next step is a small incision in the top layer of the cornea to create a thin “flap.” This flap is folded back to gain access to underlying corneal tissue. Your surgeon uses a preprogrammed laser to shape your cornea to the desired prescription.
Immediately after surgery, you may feel some discomfort or mild pain. We recommend arranging transportation home, and taking a few days rest following the procedure. Most patients experience clear vision in less than 24 hours after surgery, and are fully recovered within a month.
Your Future Looks Bright
If you are ready to experience the freedom of laser eye surgery, call us today for a consultation. You can expect our team of experts to stay by your side throughout the process, ensuring optimal results.
