The Contact Lens Exam

A contact lens exam takes a little longer than your standard eye exam.

Our optometrists will conduct a series of tests before recommending a contact lens for your prescription and take various measurements. Your doctor may adjust your prescription slightly to accommodate where the contact lens rests on the eye.

Overall eye health is considered at this exam. Patients with frequent eye infections, dry eye disease, and allergies may experience additional irritation when wearing contact lenses.

The Contact Lens Fitting & Trial

Your contact lens fitting helps our optometrists determine the perfect lens for your lifestyle and eye shape. Comfort is vital, and your doctor will take more measurements to determine the best-fitting contact lens for your vision.

It may take some time to settle on the right lens, but once we’ve done all the detective work, you’ll head home with your first pair of trial contacts.

You may not fall madly in love with your trial lenses, and that is absolutely okay. You don’t have to marry your first pair, so go ahead and change things up if they don’t work for you!

It’s important to the entire team that you’re happy with your new contacts, so call us if you have any concerns.

Care & Handling of Contact Lenses

Ensuring your transition to contacts goes smoothly is part of our caring culture, and our staff will provide you with thorough maintenance instructions for your new lenses.

We recommend following the care instructions for your contact lenses very closely. Their lifespan will increase significantly with proper care. And always remember to clean and disinfect your contact lenses before reusing them!
